Supporting One Another

Recently, on social media, there was a comment from someone who had just been diagnosed with myasthenia gravis. She was asking if there were others, who also had MG, especially near her same location. She had no idea where to look nor whom to ask. Like many of us, she was learning about the disease and would like to meet and speak to someone in her area.

I imagine this is a common feeling among those with MG, but having support could be reassuring!

Search for a support group by asking:

  • your local librarian
  • your community/city offices
  • your doctor or hospital administration
  • church members, or friends
  • group coordinators for groups listed here.
  • online groups where there is a forum format

Can you help?

These groups below represent a fraction of the groups available, but it gets you started thinking about what you want a group to be for you—

  • social?
  • informative?
  • local support?
  • events?
  • offer encouragement and reassurance.

    What do you need?

With the idea of supporting one another, if you know of a group or are part of a group and would like to list it here, make a comment below with a link where you can be contacted. Include the following information. I would love to see THIS PAGE grow!

Any of this information, name and link minimum:

  • the name/location link to online site
  • group name
  • type of Group (Society, local, region, online, chat, etc.)
  • see below for examples of information for offering support to those in your area.

As a potential member of a group, always ask the preliminary questions to get answers that make you feel you are in the right place. Your doctor may also have social and emotional support recommendations. Ask!

CHECK IN YOUR AREA – YOUR STATE – YOUR PROVINCE – FOR GROUPS ONLINE OR LOCAL ORGANIZATIONS!

“And always remember you are loved.”

The Harper’s Blessing is a beautiful song sung by Cathy Britell, composer, on autoharp, and William Limbach on guitar.

Thank you, Cathy.
